Fusion V is De Toren’s flagship Bordeaux-style red, a wine that has helped establish the Stellenbosch estate as one of South Africa’s leading producers of fine Cabernet-led blends. Made with meticulous attention to vineyard selection and élevage, it combines the depth and warmth of Stellenbosch with the structure, precision and elegance associated with classic Bordeaux.
The 2020 vintage is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, bringing concentrated blackcurrant and dark berry fruit alongside cedar, spice and subtle savoury notes. The palate is rich and layered, with impressive depth balanced by fresh acidity and finely polished tannins. Dark chocolate, graphite and ripe plum add complexity, while the fruit remains focused through a long, persistent finish.
There is a compelling sense of refinement to Fusion V. Despite its concentration, the wine is not simply about power; careful winemaking allows the different varieties to complement one another, creating a seamless and beautifully proportioned whole.
