The 2020 De Toren Private Cellar Fusion V is a beautifully composed Bordeaux-style blend from Stellenbosch, crafted from the classic ‘Noble Five’ varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
Deep crimson in colour, the wine opens with enticing aromas of dark fruit, cedar and spice, leading into expressive flavours of dark sour cherry, tobacco and a subtle hint of aniseed. The palate is rich and full-bodied yet remarkably graceful, with a soft, silky texture and finely integrated tannins providing both elegance and structure. Layers of dark fruit and savoury spice unfold slowly, leading to a long, persistent finish.
A sophisticated expression of Stellenbosch terroir, combining the refinement of a classic Left Bank-inspired blend with the distinctive character of South Africa.
