Description
The Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic expression of Paso Robles, combining generous fruit with the structure and freshness that have become hallmarks of J. Lohr’s wines.
The 2022 opens with concentrated blackberry and blueberry, lifted by violet, cracked pepper and black tea. On the palate, the fruit is rich and inviting, with juicy layers of black and red currant balanced by fine-grained tannins and a bright, energetic finish. Sixteen months in French oak adds a subtle pastry character, bringing polish and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. Sourced from the estate’s Hilltop Vineyard, this is a Cabernet with plenty of depth and presence, yet enough freshness to remain beautifully balanced.
A natural partner for a rosemary-seasoned ribeye, particularly alongside garlic-roasted potatoes, parsnips and fennel, making this generous three-litre format well suited to a relaxed gathering around the table.
